Default DAE Error -6006

Hello. When starting pro-tools I get a DAE Error -6006. I've tried searching for this error code but have found no information. Here is my system info:

* Dell Dimension 4500 - 1.79 GHz
* Windows Xp
* Pro tools M Power V. 7
* 1 GB RAM
* M-Audio Firewire 410 external sound card
* 2 SCSI drives

I have made no changes to my system since this started happening, which is quite baffling, though the last session I opened was from a pro-tools session created at a professional studio that was using pro-tools HD on a mac. However, I opened the session just fine and it worked well.

Now I cannot open protools at all. I've tried re-booting, and fiddling with the sound card settings, and turning the sound card on and off.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sean

usually that error means that pro tools lost contact with ur audio interface, have u got the latest drivers installed for ur interface? sometimes i get this error with my 1814 but i just turn it off turn it on and wait till it finishes reseting itself then open up protools, are u using a separate firewire card?using the motherboard's built in firewire input is not advisable

hope this helps

go to Device Manager and try uninstalling the FW410 driver. Then reinstall the latest version as per M-audio's documentation.

regards,

I have had the error only a couple of times since upgrading to 7.3.1cs2. Each time it has been due to lost connectivity with my M-Audio 1814 due to high CPU. I haven't been able to put my finger on the cause of the CPU issues, but I believe one or more of my RTAS plugins may develop some internal condition where the CPU goes high and remains there.

Thanks for the responses. I came back to my system the next day and the problem was gone. Not sure what the root cause was, but thanks again!

I had this problem with a Transit, but it would NEVER work after it started happening. Worked fine on the Mac, but not the PC. Replaced the unit eventually. Worked great after that.

BTW, according to some older Digi documents, the PCI expansion chasis is not connected, is what the error is.

You could reflash the firmware, unistall the old driver, then resinstall the new one.

Otherwise, it could be a defective unit. That was the problem with the Transit system I mentioned above.
