PT9 and Alesis HD24
Is it possible to use an Alesis HD24 as an interface for PT9? I noticed it has optical ports on it like my PF2626's. I've got a big ole analogue console that would be cool to go directly into the HD24, then straight into PT via my PF2626's. I've searched online and haven't come up with anything so I'm guessing it's not possible?

Re: PT9 and Alesis HD24
You can use the HD24 for its converters, but you cannot get 24 in x 24 out at the same time. If you need both ins and outs at the same time, they can only total 24 in any combination you want (e.g. 12x12, 16x8, 4x20).

Re: PT9 and Alesis HD24
Top Jimmy. I also own an Alesis HD24. What is the difference in the Alesis converters or going direct in to PT's with say an M-Audio, Audiofile interface from my analog mixer? What I'm getting at is, If I had 12 tracks on the Alesis, what do I do to transfer those 12 tracks in to PT's. If this can be done, could I then double the number of tracks by doing it again? How would I synchronize the tracks? This is probably not to bright a question but please consider the source. Thanks

Re: PT9 and Alesis HD24
No I don't need 24 in/out, I was just wondering if I could daisy chain the HD24 with my PF2626's to get up to 24 in. As in, instead of buying a 3rd PF2626 for another 8 in, just use the Alesis and hook it up with the optical ports- like my 2nd PF2626.

Re: PT9 and Alesis HD24
Of course you can. The trick though will be getting all 3 converters to sync to the same clock.

As far as transferring tracks already recorded on the HD24, there's ADAT I/O for real-time audio, and the following for file transfer. FTP via ethernet, the Alesis Fireport, or a Fireport alternative called HD24 Tools.
