Default Presonus Faderport...Does This Thing Work?

Wanted to get one of these for use with PT9 here but got to Amazon and started reading the reviews...yikes...some bad software support, drivers, PT problems...how many of you use this thing with no problems with PT?

Thanks
Tom

I use it ALL the time--couple little annoying things once and awhile ( loses communication with PT etc.)--simple unplug /power cycle fixes it right away. Other than that it works great.

Thanks. Yeah I was considering it because it's a fast away around the Software Monitoring thing (hitting the mute button)....kind of a drag it doesn't support LATCH mode though.

C'mon AVID we need new controllers!

The FaderPort works great! It supports Latch, but you have to set that on the computer screen. There is no button on the FP. In reality, there isn't that much difference between pressing write on FP, after you're in touch record. At least you don't have to sit there holding the fader like a monkey, waiting for the end of the song...

It is MIDI, rather than ethernet. They say that there are only 127 steps, but that's not exactly true. It drops automation as dots, but the calculates the rate of speed to get to the next dot, so it actually moves the volume through the millions of steps in PT, over time, to get to the next dot. If your vocal ride is hovering the whole time between step 94 and 95 for the whole song, it will just be a quarter db, or so, step. But if you're making bolder moves, you won't hear steps, because there won't be any. Just 127 points that it hits during a given stream of time, with millions of points of resolution.

Works great! Get one.

Steve

For some reason the initial setup was a pain. Don't know why I couldn't get it to work but took me several hours of re-installing drivers, updates, etc. Once my rage went away and it started working I haven't had one problem since. Works flawless.

No problems here either, except that it won't address the first 8 tracks(only my 003 can control them). I assume if I went with an interface that had no control functions, that would not be an issue.

I use mine daily and the only glitch I experience is the pan knob. It just kinda hops all over the place. Could be mechanical failure.(bad pot) Did it since new.

Very good product. Once I took it next to big Harrison console in re-recording room.

I even use one at my friend's HD3/C24 setup as I need transport buttons on the left(C24 has them on the right).
