Default Magic mouse

Whenever I use pro tools I get an issue with my magic mouse lagging really badly. I have to keep turning the bluetooth on and off. Anyone else having this experience?

Stop using a Bluetooth mouse. It's recommended to don't use anything bluetooth at all. Turn it off!

Every WL mouse keyboard utilizes BT so turning off is an issue Avid needs to deal with.
(Although I'm not having issues with BT enabled)
It's Just not an option for some.
I personally like wired but I use a Trackball wired and a Trackpad WL together.
I also like the MT and MM and wired versions would have been acceptable as an option
primarily due to battery charging.

Back to topic.
If your mac is blocked the MM or MT can be intermittent. I at one studio like the Magic-trackpad at the console. The mac was in the machine room so I added a Bluetooth-reciever USB device to the keyboard and it works great.

PT's 9.0.5, OS 10.7.2, HD3 Magma solution.
12Gb, 12 core

If you are using a Mac Pro and you are a bit aways from it, this can be an issue (as it was with mine and my Magic Trackpad, sitting no more than a yard away, with a desk between the two devices). There is a document on the web that details taking the internal BT antenna on the Mac Pro and re-routing it externally. It's a SUPER easy conversion, cheap, and it solved the problem for me - ridiculous BT range, NO dropouts.

Sorry, I don't remember the link, but Google it - it's easy enough to find. It cost me maybe $5ish for the internal cable, then you can spend whatever you like on the external BT antenna - I spent $20 or $25 on mine.

The fix you mentioned is for mac pro not macbook pro. I opened my macbook and it it looks nothing like the mac pro so I couldn't fix it. Gona try a dongle.

I recommend a USB -> Bluetooth adapter, this fixed it for me.

Yup... you didn't specify what machine you had, and that's why I prefaced my suggestion with: "If you are using a Mac Pro..."

Not sure what else to suggest to you. Certainly drilling a port in your MacBook so you can mount an external antenna would be silly.

Good luck!

Couldn't stand my magic mouse...Laggy, drop outs, crap size....Dumped it for a wired 5 button.

Sounds like the problem I had with mine and my Mac Pro until I did my external antenna mod. Now it works as well as my wired trackball ever did - no lag that I can tell, no dropouts...

Doesn't help the OP, though, unfortunately.
