Default Roland keyboard not showing up in Pro Tools

Hi

I'm new to this.
I have been using Cubase LE for a long time but have been attempting to learn Pro Tools as that is what my producer uses.

I use a Roland XP10 keyboard and my problem is trying to get the patch bank into Pro Tools.

I click on Patch select, change, I find Roland XP10 - but get the message "PT could not find appropriate patch names in the currently selected patch name document because either manufacturer/model information or instrument mode do not match"

I've tried everything I know but get nowhere. Protools doesn't seem to recognise anything beyond the Mbox.

I did find in the Library/Audio a list of Midi Patch Names.. I found Roland XP10 but then I was asked for which program to open with.. and nothing seemed to... Digidesign just sent me to submenus.. none of which seem relevant.

Now 'midi patch names' has vanished altogether from my Library..

Oh dear.

Pleeease help!

DB

Setting this kind of stuff up can be a pain. I was able to get the help I needed from this link:

http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=133590

Hope this helps.

Thankyou Dizzi

I've been through all this but the thing is that the Roland XP10 IS in both midi patch name list and midi device list in the HD library.

Stiil Pro Tools says "PT could not find appropriate patch names in the currently selected patch name document because either manufacturer/model information or instrument mode do not match"

Does anyone know of anything else I am doing wrong/could try differently?

Ok.. I think that protools had Cherry picker built into 8. You will have to edit the midi patch list.. its not too hard once you get it figured out.
Look and see if the midnam is in the roland folder.. It should be. I take it that you have set it up in the Audio Midi setup first?

http://www.alterspective.com/cherrypicker/

It is free. It will most likely solve your problem. It can check for errors and fix them. It can make sure that your files are saved as proper Digidesign files.

Can you explain how your keyboard is connected to your computer?

When I loaded my midnam file in Cherry Picker, it made a couple changes for me in one of my files. So I would be surprised if Cherry Picker is integrated in Pro Tools 8.
