Default PT 10 on a new MacBook Pro?

Hi,

I have a situation. I have a new Thunderbolt / Omni / PTHD Native system using a 2017 MacBook Pro, currently running High Sierra and PT 12.8.3.

I need to run Pro Tools 10 in order to convert some old sessions that have SDII files into sessions that I can load on my new system. I have a PT 10 license.

I do also have a very large HD TDM rig, running PT 7.3 on a Cheesegrater Mac Pro, but I do not have a way to set it up where I am currently staying. It would be very difficult to set all that gear up just to do the conversions, and I am trying hard to avoid that scenario.

Anyhow, it has been suggested in another thread that I partition the drive on my new MacBook Pro, find an install disk for Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks, and install the old OS along with PT 10 on the new partition to do the conversions.

First problem is finding a full install disk for the older OS. But my other worry is that the MacBook Pro will not run the older OS since it is not a supported OS for that computer.

Another suggestion has been made that I simply install PT 10 on my new computer, along with PT 12.8.3. I am told that it will work well enough to open the sessions and do the conversions. I am also told that I would have to manually uninstall PT 10 because the uninstaller won't work.

The other thread has kind of gone sideways, so I am asking here.

Has anyone done anything like this, and what happened? Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

MD

Or you could sent someone who has PT 10 and ask them to convert the files

Thanks guys, but sending the sessions out is not an option here. I need to figure out a way to do it here.
