Problem with zooming on large session - help!
System: G4-450, 384MB RAM, PT5.0, mix+ and 1 farm, 2*888/24, USD, ProControl.
I can not zoom in to sample level to elliminate clicks on a session which was a live album recording - 8 or so tracks, no individual take more than about 10 minutes but about 4 hours in the session. Each song mixed seperately using 'save as'. I can zoom to sample level on two track sessions - so what gives? I hope someone can shed light on this - I have to get it done soon! Many thanks for any replies. ------------------ Peter Williams "Listen first - Analyse later" [This message has been edited by PeterWilliams (edited June 23, 2000).] [This message has been edited by PeterWilliams (edited June 23, 2000).]

Re: Problem with zooming on large session - help!
The only thing that comes to mind is the amount of RAM allocated to Pro Tools. If the session is extremely large, as you say it is, then you may need to allocate more RAM to the Pro Tools application by - Quitting ProTools - go the the Pro Tools application icon, select it, then do a Get Info. - In the Get Info window, go to the memory page and increase the number in the Preferred memory setting. Normally I would suggest setting it to atleast 70000 or 80000 but in your case you may need to increase it even more. If you have enough system RAM, try increasing the Pro Tools preferred memory setting to 100000 or 110000. See if that doesn't help. By the way, your DAE RAM allocation should be atleast 70000 or 80000 as well. In order to bump the allocations this high you will need to have atleast 256MB, probably more, of system RAM. If you don't have this much system RAM, you may need to break down the session into smaller increments so that they are more manageable with the amount of RAM you do have. Re: Problem with zooming on large session - help!
OK - Back again. Tried that.
DAE now has 100MB and PT has 140MB RAM but no difference... Having done a search of the DUC on 'zoom' there seem to have been a few posts about this - is it a bug? How upset should I get - this never happens on my Fairlight MFX system... Any ideas? Peter [This message has been edited by PeterWilliams (edited June 23, 2000).]
