Delay compensation not working when committing??
Hi guys,
I have a big issue here. I need to deliver a mix today and I'm running some drum tracks through my hardware. I use an Apogee converter. I add inserts to the tracks in PT, when monitoring everything sounds fine. However, when committing (online of course), the committed track is delayed! I have ADC activated. The track does not seem to be delayed based on the buffer size, as changing the buffer settings does not affect the amount of difference. The difference is about 5-15 ms. I'm using PT12.4 native on OSX High Sierra (the last compatible version). PT seems to know how much delay is caused by the AD/DA conversion as it mentions that in the mix window, but how do I fix this? Any help is much appreciated. Re: Delay compensation not working when committing??
Apologies if I'm not understanding, but you have external analog inserts on the channels? If so, you obviously can't do an offline bounce/commit - needs to be real time.

Exactly.
You can’t be committing offline if you’re going through outboard gear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Delay compensation not working when committing??
My bad, sorry. I meant online, in realtime.
I seem to have (partly) figured out what's going on. A few months ago I calculated the roundtrip latency and inserted that value (11.5 ms) in the I/O screen. However, upon remeasuring the latency, it suddenly has changed to 16 ms, which is roughly the difference in alignment I'm noticing. I have no idea what could have caused this as I have not upgraded my system, hardware or anything else. Quite mysterious! |

I have also noticed that...an apparent instability in maintaining a consistent internal compensation. PT's timing generally is flaky at best. There are times when (usually after intense editing) PT 12.8.1 doesn't even move according to the grid. Although this is different from what you are talking about, I've found that restarting almost always corrects it.
