I still prefer the Volume 1 upgrade....(more AAX-DSP plugs)

I'm running Native with non avid. I might look into the difference in the plugins, maybe get a crossgrade if needed

I personally think it's worth having, I might get it next time the plugin version goes on sale.
I got this one(GTR3) yesterday while getting in on another Waves' deal thru AD. This thing will never get opened when I want to kick the feet up and simply play some guitar. I agree with you and Benoni and any others who suggest that it has it's uses in the DAW/Mix. It sounds like a toy at first, but I bet it lets a back-ground track slot in fairly easily. Well worth the low $30's after some discounts.

I'm at the point where I really have all I need as far as plugins. The iZotope Music Production Suite has me covered for mixing and Komplete Ultimate has me covered for creation. BFD3 for drums, and a bunch of different guitar amp sims. Then all the included Avid effects plus those you get with PT Ultimate. Unless something is VERY cheap or VERY unique, I don't even care anymore. I think the only thing I would like to add would be Revoice, maybe SD3, and a couple string libraries like Novo. I'd rather spend my money on some new hardware, I need a couple new mics, a new MIDI keyboard, new monitors would be nice but I'm ok for now, maybe an new interface if it has some good features, but really I'm setup pretty good at this point and all the new EQ's and compressors and channel strips out there don't really interest me.

One of the best purchases I made early in the year was a standing desk. And a new beast of a PC - 20 cores, 96GB ram The HP Z820 is a lot of bang for the buck if you don't mind staying with DDR3.

Same here.

Revoice Pro would also be nice for double tracking

I am planning on adding Plugin Alliance pick pack just because they are AAX-DSP

Then I will be good.

What CPU do you have in your HP?

2 Xeon E5-2690 v2 3.0GHz - 3.6GHz turbo boost. 20 cores, 40 threads. Even with large 4K projects in Media Composer there are plenty of cores to spare. Threw an SSD in for the system drive. I did a video on it here

I like the PA stuff, but I have about everything I need from them. Their guitar amps are sooo good The Engl and Dual Rec are so accurate it's insane. I always think back to getting a free version of Amplitube 1 with the 003R or using SansAmp (remember that!) and thinking "yeah bro, I sound good" The stuff today is so much better

The new Waves PRS SuperModels are also really nice, probably didn't need them, but worth having around. Much better than the GTR3 amps. Plus they sent out a coupon code to GTR3 owners to get it for $29. I think they are $49 right now. Use my code if anyone wants to save 10% on their Waves purchases

Love the Engl 646VS. Thought the Mesa/Boogie emulations Amplitube has were pretty good - haven't tried the PA one.

What I'm looking for is a Hughes & Kettner amp emulation; preferably the one Alex Lifeson used. I think his was a modified Coreblade. No one that I know of has and H&K in software.
