Cool. The computer's keyboard seems to fit good on the arm rest. Is it attached to that sliding keyboard tray that Avid has been talking about making?

No it's just resting on top, and it's quite comfortable and stable there. As it's only a small footprint I don't see the need to slide the keyboard around. Also I like having a real mouse, which is off to the side.

Good to know. I was hoping avid wasn't going to 'require' the sliding keyboard shelf for it to sit on the arm rest.

How can they make this thing without the ability to put a plug-in on a track from the unit? My pro control can do that, and I'm pretty sure my 002 could to be back in the day. Is it me, or is that just really, really strange? You know, look at what the blank were they thinking?

Oh Barry… don't get me started… It's another "not yet implemented" feature.
The S6 is gradually approaching the state it should have been in when it was released. Modern life n'all that :-(

It's almost entirely geared towards Post guys, and they use templates. That's my best guess.

BTW, I don't think a 002 could do it if I remember correctly.

Not to mention that fact that using the mouse/GUI is actually quicker, for me on my ICON at least, so I wouldn't mind. I like my plugin menu sorted by Type and Manufacturer and that sort of detail just isn't possible on a control surface.

If/when they do this on S6, it had better be on that touch display and look a lot like the PT GUI or I will then have to call it a fail.

I tend to agree Drew, although I listed it as one of the things still to be implemented, for me it's not really that big an issue to use the mouse for inserting plugins. I think it's probably quicker and easier in most cases for navigating through lists and sub-menus.

It will be interesting to see how they implement it though, if it turns out to be better on the surface then I will use it of course!

Thanks Ryan!

Re the VI's, it depends on the individual plugin and how well they have implemented Eucon. Some of them come up on the surface fine, others not so well. I anticipate that as plugin manufacturers update their plugins they will implement the new Eucon protocols better.

At the moment it's not possible to create custom layout maps for plugin parameters on the S6, but once that becomes possible it will be much better. I believe there is a plan to display plugin GUI's on the actual S6 screen, my hope is that you would then be able to put the plugin in map mode, touch a parameter on the GUI and then touch a knob or fader on the S6 to assign it there, and then save these as some sort of layout or custom map that comes up with the plugin.

:)
