Default C-8 problems - touching fader 1 writes fader 2, etc

Hello all

So from day 1 of owning my Command 8, I’ve had a pesky intermittent problem with it.

Frequently (but not always) if i have faders 1 and 2 in touch, if I’m writing on fader 1 (and not touching fader 2, and yes my hand is firmly touching the metal on the body of the unit, so it should see my finger capacitance) the Command 8 intermittently, randomly, in a stuttering sort of way..... thinks I am touching fader 2, so it completely screws up the existing automation on fader 2.

Similarly, if faders 1+ 2 are grouped, and I’m writing the group by touching only fader 1, it’ll mess up the automation on fader 2 (as if I’m randomly touching fader 2, when i am not)

Firstly I updated the firmware with Digi’s help, and that did not fix the problem.

Then right before the warranty expired, I got an RMA and took the unit in for service at the nearest LA repair shop, and they said that it was a grounding problem at my studio, and they could not duplicate the problem. :-(

Well, that is a bogus answer, as the power supply is TWO PRONG so it literally can not be a grounding problem. (as their ain’t a ground path!)

I’ve tried different USB cables, and no, I’m not going thru a USB hub - I’m going right into a port on my G5 (or Mac Pro) so I know it is not a computer problem.

It has happened in both PT 6 and 7.

Is anyone else having this problem?

and - Digi - how can I please get this resolved? I’m a professional music mixer, and I’m about to throw it out the window.

Many thanks

Hey, I have the same problem, and it seems to only happen with fader 1 + 2. I also have an intermittent "dead" fader (#7), on occassion it works fine, otherwise it never moves, and touch sensitive it is not. Any ideas from anyone would be great!

Has this issue been covered oon the duc before? I didn´t find anything when I did a quick search in this subforum.

Are you on the latest firmware version? It should be v02.01.02.

Here's a link to the download:

Thanks for your quick response!

i´ll check tomorrow, it´s late evening here in europe but i do think so because I did download a firmware updater a couple of months ago, and the latest firmware is from 2003, right?

After a more thoroughly search on the duc there seems to be a grounding problem?

to confirm your firmware version, press the Utility button and then press the Select button on ch.1

if the firmware update does not resolve the issue, please go ahead and post the serial number of your Command|8.

regards,

Thanks - yes indeed - I do have the latest firmware... and it was this way before it went in for service under an RMA - maybe they didn't know about "Rev G"

anyway - the serial # of my Command 8 is UK0018900C

I am guessing I am not "rev G"?

How would I get this? Could I get an RMA # asap to then take it in for a Rev G mod?

MANY THANKS
