Default AV Option 5.3.1 update DOES NOT WORK!!! With ProTools 5.3.1 - "Aborting Init"

Digi,

We've got a ProTools HD2 system & AV Option just installed in the Magma 13 Slot chassis (Serial # NB07 something).

We installed PT5.3. from CD
Then AV Option 5.1.3 from CD
Then we ran PT5.3.1 updater from your web.
Lastly, we ran AV Option 5.3.1 updater, and put the new files as instructed.

When we run ProTools, we get a split second message that ProTools is launching the PCI AV Option init (or something like that), then a message reporting "Aborting Init". Then ProTools continues to load all the other stuff.

AV Option does not then work with the software.

We've spent 6-7 hours on this. In this case, there is a "supporting files" folder in the video folder in DAE.

WHAT IS HAPPENING???

Also, where is the info on the slot order for someone running PTHD 5.3.1 + AV Option 5.3.1 on the 13 slot Magma Chassis and PowerMac G4 (5 slot). We couldn't locate it anywhere.

URGENT...Please help

System:
PowerMac G4/733 with Super Drive, 512MB RAM
OS9.2.2
Magma 13Slot Chassis (Serial number higher then NB07XXXXXX)
PTHD2 (Slot 4A & 5A in Chassis)
Janus Board (Slot 4B in Chassis)
Targa Board (Slot 5B in Chassis)

*Even switched Janus to 5B, and Targa to 4B

PowerMac G4/733:
Slot 1 - Appian AGP Dual Monitor Card
Slot 2 - Expansion Chassis Card
Slot 3 - blank
Slot 4 - blank
Slot 5 - SCSI64 Kit

I'm assuming you're using AVoption, not AVoption|XL.

Please double-check that you have the file ABVB2.dll in your Video Engine folder inside the DAE folder, and that it is version 5.3.1. (It's very easy to get confused between 5.3.1 and 5.1.3, for obvious reasons...)

The Supporting Files folder should be in the Video Engine folder, so that's good. That means that you completed the inital part of the install (AVoption 5.1.3) correctly.

If the version of teh dll is correct, you should contact Custome Support if you haven't already.

As for slot order, the latest guide for AVoption is version 5.1, which can be downloaded from http://www.digidesign.com/supp ort/docs/AVoption_XL_5.1_Guide.pdf

There is an updated AVoption|XL Guide for HD users, you might find that helpful, too. (AVoption is not included in this guide since they are no longer manufactured. It can be downloaded from http://www.digidesign.com/support/ docs/AVoption_XL_Guide.pdf

That's all I can tell you for now, except that we've tested this stuff thoroughly so you shouldn't be having a problem (where have I heard that before?...)

Tech Support can be more helpful.

Your slot order sounds OK. I have experienced the abort occassionally. Shutting down all gear and powering it up again has resolved the issue. Turn on drives and chassis first, wait 30 seconds before turning on the computer.

All the versions are correct (ABVB2.dll v 5.3.1).
I've tried powering up/down the system like countless number of times already.

Could it be a faulty card?

Just a hunch, but try running the 5.1.3 AVoption installer again, then check to be sure it didn't replace your ABVB2.dll (it shouldn't, but it never hurts to check).

Also check to be sure that you have SCRP0101.abf in the drivers folder inside the supporting files folder. I suspect that you do.

If you've checked all that and it's still not working, try downloading and re-installing the AVoption files again - perhaps they got corrupted at some point.
