Default Eleven rack with another interface ?

hi,

is it possible to connect 2 different audio interfaces to pt 10 ?
my idea is to record with the 11r and mix with a different interface.

also, is it possible to record with 2 different interfaces at once in pt 10 ?

You can try aggregate on Mac.

But if you are going to record with one interface, then mix with another, there is no reason to fuss with it. Just change the interface in Setup when you want to switch.

You could also set one interface as the Main interface (your mixing interface) then hook up the 11R to the main interface via Digital.

So just do as you were planning and switch interfaces when it comes to mixing. Or just use the Eleven Rack for both recording and mixing.

i will be glad to use the 11r for both,
but what i don't understand is: if the volume knob on the 11r is used for leveling the input gain while recording in pro tools, would't it effect the overall volume output of the whole session to ???
also, is it possible to bypass all signal processing ( effects/amp modeling ect. ) while playing back a pro tools session or just listening to mp3 track ?

The main volume knob is not an input volume knob, just output, and you can choose several different settings for how the volume knob works.

Also playback of a session or other sound source does not go through the Rig (amp, effects, ect...) The Rig is an input, the Main's are an output. And you don't route Windows Media Player, itunes, internet browser ect... through the rig, you route it to the mains, you don't have to bypass anything.

thank's for the info man !

so how do you adjust the 11r input gain during recording ( not through the channel fader i hope... ) ?

one last question: i'm thinking of positioning the 11r pretty far away from my pc, and want to buy a 5-10 meters USB 2.0 cable. does the length of the cable can degrade the sound/recording quality ?

You don't need to adjust the input gain of the guitar/bass itself through the "guitar input" port. If you want to increase the output of the rig then there are a few ways depending on the sound you are going for, such as you may want to increase the master on the Amp itself, or increase the Amp Out volume, but to raise the overall level, raise the rig volume.

USB2.0, as far as I can tell, has a maximum recommended length of 5 meters or less.

Why not just plug straight into 11 and out into your interface like it's a separate Pre Amp? You can still use the 11 GUI(if you're using Pro Tools) that is.

because that's another A/D conversion. But it will work.
