PT Free vs. Cakewalk Metro 5
Let me preface this by saying that I am a rank amateur in recording etc. I just heard about the release of PT Free, and am now all excited Anyway, I was wondering in anyone knew how PT Free and Metro 5 sqaure off. Any other "home"-targeted software? (I don't mean the $1000 Digi001)
Also, I have an old midi keyboard that I want to hook up to my Beige G3. Any suggestions on cheap midi interfaces for me? I don't have any sound card beside the motherboard sound capabilities, which I'm told are retty bad... Thanks, -shudder |

Re: PT Free vs. Cakewalk Metro 5
I'ts like askin "what car should I drive: The volkswagen beetle 1966 or the Golf TDI 1999?? ". Some prefer rellics , others prefer just drivin with (a bit) comfort.
The only thing for you to tsjekout now is wich car corresponds to what software. I know it allready... Greetings, Huby |

Re: PT Free vs. Cakewalk Metro 5
For Midi- definetly Cakewalk Metro- it is a very underrated sequencer really in terms of midi power. Audiowise, you could get more tracks from Cakewalk but it pales into insignificance with regards to power and flexibility when compared to Protools LE (free or otherwise).
So get both- Cakewalk for Midi (it's dirt cheap anyway!) and LE free for audio (not a problem if not requiring more than 8 tracks). |
