I threw in the towel. Went back to Tiger (painfully) but at least all is well now. I'm going to be much more gun-shy about upgrades from now on, and pay a lot more attention to Digi's advice. Pro Tools 7.4.1 and Tiger 10.4.11 are really stable and all my plugs function. Back to work.
