Default error occured while trying to est. ethernet conn.?

I can't get my Control 24 online.

I just bought a G4, a 002 rack, and a Control 24. When I go to SETUPS>PERIPHERALS>ETHERNET CONNECTION and I scan for ethernet devices/connection I get the following message: An error occured while trying to establish ethernet connection. Please check all ethernet connections.

My connections are secure, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I uninstalled and reinstalled Pro Tools LE, but that didn't help.

Has anyone run into this problem? Please help me.

seth

************* The problem was that I had not updated to 6.1. Pro Tools LE did not support Control 24 until 6.1.

The only problem I'm having now is that Pro Tools keeps telling me that it can't find a personality file for the C24, but it is in the Personalities Folder!?

Just throwing out ideas here:

Are you using the supplied ethernet cable that came with the C24? Are you using a hub?

If so, try connecting directly to the computer (without the hub). Maybe a bad cable? Or wrong type (straight vs cross-over)?

Otherwise, sorry. I haven't seen this error before.

Good luck

Thank you for your help, Mario! Here are the answers to your questions:

I am not using a hub.

I am using the supplied ethernet cable.

I appreciate your input.

Thanks again!

Hi There,

I had a similar problem although not exact so heres what I can suggest:

Read my previous post "No ethernet connection?". Its on the second page of this part of the forum.

Delete all your ProTools prefs from your system folder and reboot your machine.

Make sure that all your network prefs are in order. Did you have any filesharing programmes such as
"DAVE" in use on this machine before?

Make sure your netbios settings are configured correctly. You can find them in the control panels menu on your G4.

Reset your C24 in the C24 Utiltiy menu.

Do you know anyone else with a C24 ? You could bring your mG4 to their desk and see if it appears there or if you get the error messages then. If their C24 appears ok, then you know its a problem with your desk and not the mac. Make sure you bring your etherrnet cable with you.

Are you getting any activity from the green led on the rear of your C24 beside the ethernet connection?

I hope this is of some help to you. I know how annoying this problem is so my sympathy lies with you!

Good l;uck

Mark
