Default HD I/O Outputs Hot (+7dbm RMS) Factory

Hi. Have anyone else noticed the HD I/O outputs ship trimmed-hot?

All inputs seem close but so far for me two 16x16 and one 8x8 all set for +7 out.

Fluke 867b RMS AC meter
1KHz set for -18 RMS (Avid Tone Generator)

Curious.

Luckily you can calibratre the outputs to the voltage of your liking :)

What dBm measurement resistance setting are you using in the meter? And what load was the outputs actually driving? You really want to calibrate these outputs as described in the manual, not by relying on a meter making power calculations from a voltage measurement.

If the input calibrations look better to you how exactly are you measuring those?

Always Outputs first. Using Fluke (Factory calibrated) 687b Meter set to RMS AC 600 ohm load. measure across pin 2 and 3.
Matching to SSL 6K setup for +4db = 0 VU (VU meter console)

Once out are trimmed to 1.228v they match the consoles VU meters. (Done)

I patch HD I/O out to in for input calibration (Cal template with rooms I/O bussing)
24 in x 48 out room 1 and 24 in 32 out room 2.

Cal Sounds great. Just curious when the hardware is spected referencing (-18dbfs headroom = +4db = 0 VU) the come set high from the factory.

Cool. I've just seen accidents where the reference ohms setting is changed in meters like this (like when you lend the meter to somebody...grrr).

My HD I/O came as standard above and I put it 2dB higher to cal for -20dBFS = +4dB = 0VU, as I did with the 192 before.

Greetings,

Thierry
