Default Compatibility Problems ... P4

Hi

I recently bought a new computer and I am trying to have it works with my OO2 Rack.
The computer is an Asus Terminator 2 Deluxe ( see specs at ASUS ).

I am using a P4 3.OOGhz Prescott with 1Gb kingston DDR 400 ( 2 x 512Mo ).
A 60Gb IDE 7200 rpm IBM Drive and a BELKIN Firewire 2 PCI card.

I run Win XP pro with sp1.

I tried to install PT LE 6.4. ( I first install I-tunes 6.7 to get Quicktime )
Install is ok.
I launch, i open a session: it works during some minutes then it freezes and DAE error is encountered: Error 6912, error 1, error 11104, error 1115 ...

I tried to install PT LE 6.7: same problem.

I own the latest PACE drivers.

The 002 Rack works approximatively good with winamp ( I mean wavedrivers work quite as well )
but not with win media player 9series.

I can't shutdown my computer: when i try to, windows closes the sessions then the screen flashes
to blue and a fatal system error occurs, related to the digi driver (dalwdm.sys).

I tried my 002 Rack on my laptop and it works fine.

Can somebody help me find my way thru DAE errors and drivers intallation pleeeaaaaase ??!!??

I am wondering if the motherboard or something like that could be in cause.

I am also looking for a summary of all DAE errors and their meaning.

Thx in advance.

Gweg.

It could be the unsupported chipset in that motherboard, the version of quicktime (pro tools does not like the latest version of quicktime...uninstall it and install the version included on your LE CD's), or both. Good luck.

More than likely, but get rid of quicktime 7 first to check and see if it's just that causing the problems.

I already looked in the compatibility page but i can't find any information
about a "IX200 chipset" and this is the only reference i can find in
the computer specifications.
You should know that the motherboard comes along with the computer's box because
it is a barebone so i didn't choose the motherboard myself. I just added a P4 3.00Ghz
prescott processor.
So, where could i find info on compatibility between my chipset and pro tools ?

Concerning quicktime, i tried about 6 different versions without any difference.
I don't think quicktime is the problem.
I tried pro tools 6.4, 6.7, 6.9 hen i got back to 6.1 and 6.1 worked a little bit.

Come on...really...if it isn't listed it's not supported or tested. Do you honestly think they'd list every mobo with an incompatible chipset out there...the list would be HUGE.

It appears this is an ATI chipset on the motherboard, which is currently untested and unsupported - and, apparently, problematic.

You might want to visit the compatibility documents for more information on tested and supported systems.

hi G2 My 2 cents -- I had purchased a gateway with a p4. the chipset wasn't supported, but after a ton o time spent on xp tweaks, and money spent on memory, firewire cards, hard drives. I now have a smooth running machine that can flawlessly record an amazing 15 tracks. Don't make my mistake!!! eat the loss and go buy a supported computer. You will save money in the long run.

Forget buying a pc. Just build it don't be a wuss. My first build was an allenstein and it rocks harder than any damn dell you could buy currently. Too bad you didn't go AMD, that was your first mistake.
