Default Bounce to disk ONLY realtime posible? Help!!

I'm using the Digi 002 with ProTools 6.4.
When "bouncing down," why does ProTools proceed to play the entire session as it's mixing everything down?
Is there a way around this?
Sometimes I have to work on something that's up to 2 hours long, and the last thing anyone would want in this day and age of fast computers is to have to sit there for an hour as it bounces everything down! Ughh!
Please , is there is a way around this, someone please let me know! Thanks!!!

Christian

No you are stuck at 1x.

There is a search function at the top of the page and this has been discussed before.

I share your frustration and wish it would be fixed.

Oh boy, Here we go again.
I guess no one can see the benefit of real time bouncing.

I for sure know the benefit but it would be good to have that feature in Protools though. Just to give somebody who wants that option to do it. I'm fine with it, but it would be a great addition thats all.

Evidently, PT originally had the quick bounce, and many users wanted to use their outboard gear during the bounce process, so Digi switched to the realtime bounce. I suppose if I had Tube Tech compressors and all sorts of nice outboard geat for mastering, I'd also be interested in a realtime bounce. But I don't. This is my number one feature request. It really is too bad that Digi just didn't keep the quick bounce feature and add the realtime bounce. Instead, they just got rid of it. For people that do broadcast work 30 minute to 2 hr files are not unusual. I love PTLE for putting things together, but the bounce is killing me on my 30-minute program files, time wise, that it. I tried using Sonar for their quick bounce feature, but I guess I'm just a PT guy at heart. So, you are not alone in wanting this great old feature to be brought back. Digi, please, give us the good ol' days back!!

Cubase SX and Nuendo have the option to do realtime or faster than realtime bouncing.

I also think that this would be a great addition to PT.
