looking for QT movies to practice on
Can anyone suggest some sites that I could download Quicktime movies from to practise my sound production/composing skills on?
I'm looking for any clips from 10 sec- 5 mins that I could use to practise syncing to,etc. Clips with quick scene and shot changes would be the most useful. I'm very new to "working to picture" and I need to build my skills and confidence. Thanks Adam |

Ahh... you beat me to it. Some of my best practice has been from those trailers.

Re: looking for QT movies to practice on
Way off of the thread as usual, but I've often thought about how wouldn't it be cool to release special edition DVDs of feature films that had M& E mixes (undipped please) rather than/ in addition to the full mixes. I would love to see a Star Wars Episode Anything like that. Not that there's anything wrong with recording and mixing and listening to dialog...I kind of love that too, but there's also a great beauty in listening to how well crafted music and sound effects elements work with picture, no dialog... There could even be a series on Bravo or A & E — M & E Theater.
But back to the original question, I've never tried it on a commercial DVD release, but I play quicktime movies directly from Video DVDs made on DVD recorders all of the time. On a Mac, just clck on a DVD and you'll see a pair of folders inside. Inside one of the filders are VOB (video object) files that can be opened and even "saved as" like Quicktime movies with Quicktime. Too bad there's probably some sort of copy protect that mucks that up on a commercial DVD...

Re: looking for QT movies to practice on
Monsters Inc. has a 5.1 sound design only track, pretty awesome.
