Default trouble importing audio

I'm having trouble importing audio into my session, both through the browser and by dragging it in to the tracks window. What's up with that. Crashes the whole thing. I have to restart the computer.

What's up

I have a Quad Core intel mac running 10.6.3 and Pro Tools 8.0.4. Tried repairing permissions and deleting preferences.
