Default D-Control LED's Blurred

Anyone run into this? The displays on the main controller are blurred, no way to read anything. Is there a reset? Or is this a hardware problem? Thanks! Best...H

Found it. Contrast pref was whacked. A bit of a struggle to figure out which soft keys to hit, but was able to almost read them from an extreme side angle.

For anyone else that runs into it:

Utility key
Bottom left soft key (prefs)
Upper right soft key (contrast)
Turn the jog wheel until display is legible, hit reset on soft keys.

In the Utility page of the D-control you can reset Brightness and/or Contrast.

Unfortunately, with the displays goofed, there was nothing to read! By looking from the side I could ALMOST make out some letters, otherwise it was nothing but blobs of light. Best...H

Ok, I have a new wrinkle on this problem which has resurfaced (after a new drive and clean system install).

All module scribble strips were unreadable. When doing the procedure above to adjust contrast, only the 2 fader modules responded. I've tried trashing PT prefs, initializing the console (mute solo select - power cycle). This prompts a firmware update, which I also did.

In any case, main module contrast is still screwy.

Any other ideas??

Thanks! Best…H

how are the other LEDs?
I'm thinking the 5V PSU might be going south

All led's on the fader modules are fine. It's just the scribble strips on the main module.

Here's something else that's weird - adjusting contrast (utils, prefs, contrast, adjust jog wheel) works fine on fader modules and not on main module BUT adjusting rotary encoders on the main module focus strip changes the scribble strip contrast for that rotary AND any scribble strips that are in the same horizontal row. For example, focus channel rotary encoder 6 (closest to operator) also adjusts the eq scribble strip into legibility. Unfortunately, these adjustments don't hold when you leave this mode. In fact, adjusting the jog wheel wipes them out.

That says that the main module led's are fine, but there is some sort of software goof. But that is only a guess.

Who is the Icon repair expert in Los Angeles?

Avid has their own Field Service Rep in LA, Brandon (unless that changed recently).
Open a support ticket and ask for him to come out.

Ok. FIXED IT!

I had to do a reset of the main unit from the utility page - not the power cycle version:

Utility
Middle right soft key
Lower left soft key.

(Thanks Craig.)
