Default Video Satellite LE in regular PT11, according to "What's New" guide

I just checked the "What's new in PT11" guide, and it lists that Satellite Link and Video Satellite LE are now built into Protools, as has been mentioned before.

But the assumption was that they would be HD only, just like before.

However, on page 52 of the guide, it mentions Satellite Link, then in parentheses "HD only". But it has no mention of that for Video Satellite LE.

So I'm wondering if anyone has tested this with "regular" Protools 11.

To test it, you would need a second computer running any Protools version from 8 thru 11, and an ethernet cable.

Not the exact answer to your question, but I'm finding that Video Satellite on PT 11 only works between PT11 and PT11, not, as I was hoping, between PT11 and PT10.

This is a known issue/limitation with Pro Tools 11. Unfortunately, the Satellite protocol needed to change to support various features in Pro Tools 11.

We are actively working on a solution for this issue.

Hang tight!

Disclaimer. I don't work with video at all.

Wouldn't you actually want to have both machines running PT11? Wouldn't the new Avid Video Engine and its native codec support and file interchange be a bonus for those working with video? Or does it not make much difference?

Yes, it probably would be a great benefit. But it depends on what kind of quality he needs, and he may not want to spend the money on an Protools upgrade if he doesn't have to.

Either way, it seems to be confirmed that this is indeed built into regular PT11, not just HD. So that's a nice pleasant surprise.
