Default Mac Pro (Intel) Quad Xeon with LE 7.1.1

Hi,

Newbie here, I've been living on the PC thread till now. I am finally deciding on going the MAC route and was wondering what to go for.
It looks like the Quad Xeons are the newest and fastest Macs out there but, haven't officially been certified by Digidesign yet.
I just wanted to know if anybody is up and running with this configuration and whether it's pretty stable.
Also if folks have some advice on whether I should get a PowerPC instead of going for the intel-based Macs yet.

thanks for your help,
RM
