"You have automation data in your Preview buffer that has not been punched to an automation playlist. Are you sure you want to close your session/disable Preview mode? This action is not undoable."

how about when you have automation in your preview buffer you:

(Make sure you are in stop)
-Press Punch Preview (all parameters become latch primed)
-Go into your Snapshots softkey
-Press capture
-Press and hold an empty softkey location to save it
-Double press the softkey to rename the snapshot

Save the session, these settings return with the session after a closing...

Also for those of you reading this, using snapshots while in Preview is darn near one of the coolest features, it allows you to audition different captured snapshots without committing anything. Try it out sometime!

Put the tracks (or all tracks) that you want to affect into Latch mode

Go into preview (perhaps with a selection in loop playback) & hit play

touch the controls you want to audition

press the Snapshot softkey & press capture and then press and hold an empty snapshot (which saves it to that location), double press that softkey to rename

now go back to the controls and make changes (try new things!)

then repeat the snapshot process (Capture, then press and hold, rename)

now you can press the softkey of the first preset you made and hit Punch Capture in the Snapshot softkey, your first settings will be recalled. you are free to then punch in the second pass of moves and see which one works better.

ICON lets you recall up to 48 snapshots per session.

have fun.

Yes, I use Capture and snapshots all the time. But still-- Pro tools asks if you are sure you want to close a session when there are processes running, but doesn't ask you about Preview? You could close a session and save and lose your Preview buffer? You can crash and not be able to restore Preview from session file backups?

If none of this bothers you then Preview isn't a big deal to you.
