Default How do I sync my Digi001 system to my Digi 003 System?

Hi,

I would like to sync my Digi001 as a slave for my Digi003 system.
What should I do? Would I have to connect the Digi001 PCI Card to the PC? I would like to do it via ADAT, because I'd like to have a total of 16 channels (8-001, 8-003). How to configure the clock settings?

Thanks

I think to get them in sync from a TRANSPORT standpoint, you could do it via MIDI. I was able to sync Pro Tools with my old SAW PRO program that way, and it was frame-accurate every time. We are talking two separate computers here, right? Pro Tools will only "see" one interface at a time.

it will not work like you think it will. the protools interfaces do not support a "standalone" mode like you are wanting. you can only use one interface at a time.

you need to purchase an 8 channel preamp with with adat out.

Some side note history trivia, the PT software can fire up and run with only the 001 PCI card in the system. No need for the 001 breakout box to be connected as the ADAT optical I/O is on the PCI card itself. The only Digi LE product I know of that could do this. The AMIII card doesnt count.

I've done this back in the day with two 002 rigs. You'll need two separate computer rigs to pull this off and a bit of time for some brain freeze setup. Nonetheless, I've done and it works with sample accurate sync. I may have left a "how to" post or two 8 years back.

Putting some thought to this, to be able to pull this off on one computer, the only front end app that has a good shot of seeing both hardware boxes would be Reaper. If that's the case you could use Reaper for tracking and PT for everything else.

A better solution I myself would do is to track down a second hand Alesis AI3 or something similar to give you your extra 8 I/O on your 003.

a behringer 8 channel preamp with adat out is only $200. seriously, its that easy. if you want to go a bit better, the presonus d8 is $400. better still, an octopre or digimax for around $1000. that not enough? you got the crane song spider for $8000. you get the idea.

You're right, it is not possible. Pro Tools is designed to see only ONE interface at a time. If you want to access the ADAT optical i/o there's quite a few ways to do it. The Behringer ADA-8000 does a fine job, or look u p two posts. Time for some Ebay browsing!!!!!

It's not gonna happen. The PT software will only "see" one I/O box. You wont be able to get audio from the Digi001 to "pass thru" to it's ADAT output to then be routed into the 003.
