Protools trying to use Eleven rack I/O instead of my audiobox 1818vsl

pro tools is trying to use the I/O's of my eleven rack instead of the I/O's of my presonus audiobox 1818VSL. i used it for the first time yesterday and downloaded the drivers hooked it up and it worked fine. i recorded drums on a project then saved and closed it and went to record drums on a new project and now it wont let me select the I/O's of the 1818vsl. i changed the playback engine to the audiobox but still no change. i have the Eleven connected through it using the SPDIF in the back and i unplugged it so see if that would make a difference but it didn't. can anybody help me?

Is the Audiobox showing up as an available "audio engine"(in Pro Tools>Setup>Hardware)? If it isn't, could it be the USB port Power Management feature(which needs to be disabled on all USB ports, aka USB Root Hub in Device Manager). I'm assuming you are running Windows here as you have not given much system detail(hint, hint)

yes sorry i am running windows 10, when i go to hardware the only option is "AudioBox ASIO Driver" so im assuming that means its connected. i can play audio through my monitors that are running through the outs of the audio box just fine also.

Go to the Playback Engine dialog Settings>Playback Engine. What exact options are in the pulldown menu?

The 1818VSL has an ASIO driver so to be clear you should be using that not ASIO4ALL. What 1818VSL driver package did you install (what version does device manager show?).

Select the interface you want in that Playback Engine dialog, if the option is not there not that tell us exactly what shows up. Ideally with a screen shot of the pulldown menu.

Then, if the IO setups still looks wrong, click on the default buttons on each of the input/output/bus pages.

With multiple interfaces connected, get used to holding down the N key when starting Pro Tools and selecting the interface you want.

And make sure the 1818VSL is NOT the default for Windows sounds/audio. Use your onboard soundcard for that.

when i go to Setup>Playback Engine the only options are windows audio device and AudioBox ASIO Driver. the 1818vsl driver i installed was the one from universal control it says firmware V1.49. i have the Eleven rack totally unplugged so nothing should be picking it up. the pic i attached of the I/O is after it hit default. thanks for trying to help me, i really appreciate it!
