Default Re: HDX Doesn't Like To Run At Low Buffer Setting

Guys, I think this is a general issue with PT, it doesn't matter whether native or HDX.

I just swapped the CPU of my iTrashcan from 3.7GHz 4-core to newer version 3.0GHz 10-core, which is slightly more powerful than original 12-core as per GeekBench4 -- all of a sudden I can run PT with 32 buffer very smoothly and without any hiccups whatsoever. After brief testing I was actually thinking okay now is the time to try 32 buffer, but when I went to playback settings I noticed I was already running low buffer. Didn't even have to turn hyperthreading off.

So it seems PT likes many cores..?

Default Re: HDX Doesn't Like To Run At Low Buffer Setting

We got one 6 core and one 12 core both which runs great at 32 buffer size. Tested with HDX setup on the 6 core and no issues. We run several of the new Apollo X8P and X16 now so the HDX is not getting used much.

The Native processing power and the 32 buffer is far better and more stable than the HDX ever was for us so I can understand that your 10 core does a better job with HD Native than the 4 core. No real surprise there

My surprise was 10-core works so well with hyperthreading on, whereas the 4-core hyperthreading needs to be disabled before 32 buffer is usable
