Actually the way I did it was to record a drumstick click on a track then hook my Mac's output directly to the input and record that onto another track. I then used the invert plug-in to flip the second track 180 out. Then I nudged the first track forward until I got silence.

can you nudge using the keyboard or do you have to use the dragging hand? inotherwords nudge a numeric amount

Have a look in the manual, search for "nudge".

good point.....you can download it here

It is quite large 5.2 mb for only the reference guide - Thats the one you need - but it really is worth readig, as they explain everything. Have a good look at the demo-session too. It is made to teach....

But its a bit like this:

set the nudge value to "mins/sec"(click on the arrow next to the nudge-value; top-side on the right). Then select it again, and select 10 ms. Now you can see tghe value you just choose. If you double click on it, you can enter a new value. Then enter the value you found it the latency was. Now hit "-" (the minus key), and the selection you made will nudge to the left with the amount you entered in the nudge-window.
