In the Pro Tools reference guide version 9, all the Pro Tools variants were covered in the same volume. If you look through the Pro Tools reference guide version 10, there is no mentioning of Pro Tools MP. This can mean at least three things:

1. There will be no Pro Tools MP 10.
2. Pro Tools MP 10 will have its own reference guide.
3. avid forgot...
4. MP has been discontinued.

The total lack of phrases like: "Pro Tools MP 10 will be released later..." in the release material kind of indicates that something is not feeling right.

I'm on Pro Tools M-Powered 8, and since neither the update plan nor the update price nor the grace period for MP 10 has not yet been mentioned, there's no point in looking at MP 9, is there? Market is kind of stuck here.

What's your opinion?

Since versions 9 and above do not insist on Avid (or M-Audio) hardware I guess there is no limitation and 10 will work with any piece of compatible hardware.
Just my guess but the price of 10 is way beyond the likes of us using M-Powered setups whatever.

i dont think, they will drop the m-powered range, because they released new mp9 hardware bundles (c400+c600) just a month ago.

It took a full five+ months to get MP9 (from October/November to mid-April). I have a feeling you'll eventually see MP10, it'll just be a few months. And I'm cool with that. I'm waiting for the upgrade pricing kerfluffle to die down and for people to actually use the software and find the bugs for me.

unfortunately it took another 5 months til they released the first update on mp9

Thanks for the replies. I know about the MP9 April thing. I just think it would be nice if avid came up with some sort of statement regarding the MP10 plans.

the good side is that as long as they dont announce MP10 we cant get shocked about another overpriced upgrade

Guess we'll have to wait until Musikmesse, to see the real thing. However, it's somewhat trendy to set ones expectations very low these days towards avid regarding features, price etc. It's hard for me to join that wave completely. I feel just like a flock of teenage girls, who've waited six months to go to a Justin Bieber concert with $199 tickets and back stage passes. I tell ya: He'd better show up, sharp and shining as ever before.
