Upgrade from PT Express to PT 2018

I have purchased a new desktop running Windows 10 with Intel Core i57600 Quad Core and 16gb ram. I was using PT 10 Express perpetual license on a laptop also running Windows 10. Many said that was impossible as the two were not compatible yet I was using them for 18 months until I had to upgrade the processor hence the new desktop. I now need to upgrade to PT 2018. Can I upgrade as per the Avid website which says if I own PT 9, 10 11 or 12 I can upgrade for $299 or do I have to pay the full amount? The money is not refundable so I need to make sure.

If PT Express was all you needed, why not try PT | Free?

Yeah I thought about PT Free but the reason I upgraded my system was to go forward. I would probably lose some functions that I'm used to in Express. Nothing to lose though I guess. Thanks.
