Default Avid Omni as a standalone "analog to adat" converter. Is it possible?

Please help me with my Avid OMNi interface! How can i send analog input channels to ADAT outs for work in standalone mode? Can i use OMNI like standalone "analog to adat" converter? Many thanks!

I don't think it is possible. What are you trying to do? Maybe someone has better advice

I thought the Omni did have a standalone mode. The only thing is that it has to be set up first using an HD Native or HDX system. But once you've set up the routing I think you should be able to run it standalone after that. You should look up the online manual.

The standalone mode is a 14 input mixer to the main outs IIRC. Not what the OP is asking about

Like I said I only know that it does have a standalone mode and I told the op to check out the manual for his specific need. Geez. You're brutal.

The Omni does not have an official standalone mode, but it allows you to configure the built in mixer to work in this capacity, but it has limitations.

Basically you can only do Analog to Digital or Digital to Analog, but not both at the same time.

Secondly you are limited to one stereo pair out, in either case. So for A to D, you can choose the 2 channels of Spidf (Coax or Optical), or 2 channels of Adat to be your outputs. This is regardless of how many inputs you're using.

For D to A, it's the same thing in reverse. How ever many digital inputs you use will go to one pair of analog outs.

So the OP will not be able to use it in the fashion he wants, as multichannel Adat outs.
