Best use of SSD in two hard drive Pro Tools setup
I have a robust laptop with an intel quad core i7 processor and 8G of RAM, using a 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium. If I got an internal solid state drive to speed things up, would I record to it or use it for the OS and program files? Currently, I record to an external hard drive connected by SATA cable, which is fast, but not as fast as an SSD.

Re: Best use of SSD in two hard drive Pro Tools setup
What exact make/model laptop? (e.g. does it even have SATA III to the drive?). What is the connection the external drives eSATA II (3 Gbps) or eSATA III (6 Gbps) and what exact drive is it?
Are you replacing the internal HDD with an SSD or adding a second SSD? What sample based VIs do you use/how large is your sample library/where are samples stored now? What is your budget for an SSD? (i.e. how large a one are you buying). |
