Default Re: Windows 7 released today. Experiences with PT8?

PT8 m-powered works smoothly for me. I am usign the 64 bit version of windows 7 ultimate which I bought on oct. 22. Both midi, instrument tracks and audio work fine, and the responsiveness of the gui seems even faster. No problems in audio playback or recording, no lateny, even when I have everything installed including AERO. And I almost forgot: I use the 6.1. firewire driver beta.

With all these reports that W7x64 is working with PT8, maybe I'll go back and install 64 instead of 32.

Ok I'm using W7x64 now. What drivers do I get for a M-Audio Delta 66? There are XP64 beta drivers and Vista64 drivers. It says on the status page that the W7 drivers for the Delta are in "private beta" stage.

Dont know for shure. But Kontakt 2 player worked so
I just assumed that it was that version of kontakt not working. I think the new Kontakt 4 is really good.
With the new library it loads faster than ever

Just checked the M-Audio forums and they have the
beta drives for FT ultra right there. Same version no
as the one I use o my delta v 6.0.2. They work on both
x86 and x64 win 7 systems. They always post the betas
just in the forums soyou wont find them on the main
site

Go to m-audio user forum. Thats where you find all
the win 7 beta drives for m-audio devices. Not on the
main site

Thanks. I downloaded the beta driver and successfully installed PT8 into Windows 7 x64 and everything seems to work!

I'd like to hear if anyone else is running Win 7 64Bit, also if anyone is using the Mbox2 mini.

I got it running the other day in Win7 x64, using the latest beta drivers from M-Audio (I'm on a ProjectMix I/O firewire interface). I'm sticking w/ my dual-boot XP-32 as a back-up, but I just did a basic 4 track recording without any issues (only used the PT Air reverb and DB33 on the plug-in/instrument side of things)

My experience isn't going to match everyone else's, your mileage may vary -- we're PC users of varying hardware permutations (unlike MACs which have a limited range of main boards etc for the OS/drivers to contend with), we Wintel people will inevitably have our problems. But so far I haven't found any definite show-stoppers, but I also haven't edited a really "busy" or layered session yet either.

Win7 is the best OS Micro$oft has done to date, so it should become very prevalent within the next year or two (Vista is basically trash now that 7 is out). If the adoption-rate is what people claim it will be, Digi and others will come around and Win7 support will only improve. Other than M-Audio, all my other drivers worked just fine and Win7 works with most Vista drivers b/c the driver-model didn't change a lot between Vista and 7.

I like the UI and the stability and performance I'm getting, so I'm cautiously hoping 7 can be my full-time DAW OS as far as recording goes. We'll see. I'll be keeping my XP partition for some time to come, just in case.
Good luck everyone in their own Win7 journey...
