Default PT12.5 on Mac os Sierra

Hello

I'm working with PT12.5.0 on Yosemite, and hesitate to upgrade to Mac os Sierra.

Does anybody have the same configuration and could tell me if it works ?

I read a lot of threads but didn't find a clear answer..

thanks!

I'm having a better time with 12.6 and Sierra than I ever did with 12.5 and El Cap. The lack of GUI lag for certain plugs was the most obvious change.

Thanks for your answers.

I'd like to update to 12.6 but it would cost me 330€, and I already updated my PT one year and a half ago, so it's getting pretty expensive (and I definitively have a problem with that concept...)

I also have Waves plugs, and it works the same way..
NI Komplete follows the same principle, and some other plugs and vsti's I've bought.

The reason why I want to update to Sierra is that if one day Yosemite becomes obsolete, and that I really have to update my OS, I'll have to pay PT update, Waves update and so on.

And it could happen soon as Apple release a new OS every year..
So I prefere have the last version that would work with my actual system.
And my only hesitation is about this compatibility question between PT12.5 and Sierra..

Hope you understood my argumentation!

Got off Yosemite on my laptop to test and it is running fabulously on Sierra!! Really good actually, but only on 12.5.2. Way better OS that Yosemite or El Capitan, which in El Capitan's case I avoided totally! Will update to 12.6 over the Xmas Holiday after this last feature score and mix go out the door in mid December. i am looking forward to upgrading then, but am sure I will not have any problems. I may do the 12.6 on the laptop next week if I have time and report back, but everything is solid otherwise on Sierra. G

Hi there,

How is Sierra working for you 1 year later? I am running Yosemite 10.10 with ProTools 12 and it's great but I cannot update iTunes, for example, on the Yosemite OS but I've heard that PT can be quite finicky with new OS's. Do you feel like I should be confident installing the newest Sierra OS?

Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Carrie

Why can't you update iTunes on Yosemite? What update do you need to do for what function in iTunes? iTunes works just fine in OSX 10.10.5.

I have a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro with Pro Tools 12 and High Sierra ****ed it up for me. I reinstalled Sierra (not HIGH Sierra) and use Pro Tools 12.4 with zero issues now. With High Sierra it was CPU-overload-hell I don't really dare use 12.8.1 yet or I can of course have dual apps installed...
