OT: Reel to Reel TEAC A-3440 trouble shooting question
I have a TEAC A-3440 that someone gave me. It worked for about an hour and then acted like the drive motor had arthritis. When I hit PLAY the reels started turning at their normal speed and then slowly slowed to a stop - sounded like HAL at the end of 2001 A Space Odessy.
FF and REW work great, just can't play or record. Any advice from you...ahem...older....I mean more experienced guys who have used reel to reel? Thanks. |

Re: OT: Reel to Reel TEAC A-3440 trouble shooting question
The obvious question- is the tape threaded right? Its been a while, that one might have a belt drive for play. Open it up and have a look. The thing about old tape machines, it takes tools and time to fix. No software reset button.
