Curious if anybody here actually uses their Reel to Reel as a Preamp!?
Some of these old high quality Reel to reels seem to have (to my undisciplined ear) some really nice built-in preamps for mics.
I am just curious... anybody here actually use their Reel to Reel as a Preamp for their microphones before going into their digigear!? GuitarEasley

I tried this numerous times with a wide range of results. For Pop material with lots of loops and synths - it was Great, For a Guitar Bas Drums - It was not so great. For a string quartet - It sucked Too Much Noise Loss of detail. I used a Studer A80 II.
