Elastic Audio problem
Hi!
I have a problem with ElasticAudio on multible tracks. I recorded a bass guitar, 4 tracks - 2 mics close to the amp, one room mic and one DI box. After recording i successfully time aligned the tracks to avoid phasing problems when i mix the tracks togehter. Now here´s the problem. I wanted to correct some parts of the performance with ElasticAudio. So i grouped the tracks, activated EA added warp markers and corrected parts of the tracks. First i tried it with the monophonic setting. As long as i only activate the warp markers (so i did NOT move them), the bass sounds like before. But when i move one of my markers my tracks start to phase - AND not only inbetween my "edge" warp markers - the whole region phased! So behind the last marker too! So i tried the rythmic algo - it was better, but not good. So i deleted all analyzed warp markers and added manualy warp markers where needed. but it started to phase again... please keep in mind that i don´t mix different takes together, all 4 tracks are from one performance, so (after time aligning) there is no phasing as long as i don´t use EA. Any ideas?

Re: Elastic Audio problem
I have never had much success using EA with multi-mic sources. I understand that's it's possible to do, but too finicky IMO. One wrong move and the whole thing turns to phasey soup...not worth the effort for me.
If you're happy with the blend of mics/DI why not submix and print that to a new mono track and then use EA where it seems to work great? Not a perfect solution I know, but it does work much better... |

Re: Elastic Audio problem
Yeah. That doesn't work.
EA the DI and re-amp the amp track. Only way to work it. I can EA multi-mic'd drums no problem. I don't phase align them - I just fix them. But bass? Forget it. Usually I'll have a DI for bass, with the thru from the DI feeding a Bass Pod. If there is quantization needed on the bass, I'll EA the DI track and re-print the POD from ouptuts of PT to the POD and re-record it.

Re: Elastic Audio problem
The EA on (for the group)>Ungroup and erase all alignment markers except for the guide track. regroup and warp from guide track.
Is this the way your working? If not, give it a go and let us know. TC |
