Default \"you need to restart\" HELP!

Ok, for reasons too much to get into, I'm using a friends IMac G4 laptop to do some mixdowns. i normally use my desktop PC, but like i said, it would take way too long to explain.
Anywho, i just finished loading the pro-tools onto her computer, but when i open the program, a big grey message pops up that says "you need to restart your computer." so i do. and then when i try to open it, the same thing happens. i'm not familiar with macs at ALL, so i have no clue what to do about this. and i can also tell you that i have no clue about any of the information about the computer.
anybody know what is causing this and how to make it stop?

PLEASE HELP

Did you install a version of Pro Tools for Macintosh?

check for compatibility at:

http://www.digidesign.com/compato/

sounds like you might have a mismatch of software vs. os.

perhaps a firmware issue... I found this :

http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=27206

I'm a Mbox user myself, so I hope some 002 user with PC & Mac experience comes to the rescue.

Could you post your computer specs and which versions of operating system and Pro Tools you're working with?

well dude, you didn´t tell what pt, and osx versions. but it seems like you installed a 6.1 PT dvd into a OSX.3, 6.1 only worked with jaguar
you need to upgrade, i´ll go to 6.4,
it says you need to restart in various lenguages isn´t it?
go to downloads, maybe it´s it.

hey everyone, it's me, the originator of the post. just wanted you all to know that i figured it out and fixed the problem and everything worked great. and my main fear of whether or not i selected to enfore pc/mac compatability was laid to rest. thanks everyone for your help. for those of you reading this to find answers to your own problem, the answer is simple: upgrade to 6.4. just like that.

Default \"you need to restart\"

I'd like to know about this absolute crash too. I have had 5 crashes of this sort on my 10.3 machine, and 4 of them have been Pro Tools related. One was obviously the 6.0 disk I used first, and then I am trying to figure out how the others have been able to totally lock up the machine. I am using 10.3.2 now, and at one point had ventured up to 10.3.5 and it seems at the time that that was more than PT could handle, so I went back to 10.3.2. I now hear that 10.3.7 is okay for my PT6.4/001 rig, no? Can anyone give me an idea why PT has done the most severe crashing, taking the whole machine down at once instead of only shutting PT down (it does this too from time to time, but its bearable). I dont have any plugins but for the stock ones, and my track counts never even get to 12 in most cases.
