Hey guys just checking on the status of Sierra and PT 12.6

for those of you who have everything working great did you do a clean install of Pro Tools afterwards or you just let the OS update over what was already there?

Also did you have to reinstall any of your plugins?

So far everything seems to working fine, I have not yet tried Structure Free
I did install Sierra over Yosemite, then trashed the PTHD 12.4 App. and then installed PTHD 12.6
No have not reinstalled any plugins

Hi,

I did a clean install of Sierra, which obviously made me do a clean install of PT 12.6 vanilla.
I installed AIR instruments.
Mini Grand worked.
I installed AIR effects.
Mini Grand stopped working.

HOWEVER.......AIR effects requires a reboot.
The fact that I used Mini Grand and tested it would have set up user prefs.
People have said before that if they trash user prefs it works until you reboot.
So, my clean install would have had no user prefs.....working....using it added prefs...still working.....reboot after AIR effects install....not working.
May not have anything to do with Air effects themselves, just the fact that I now have user prefs.

Whew!! Make ANY sense?

I'm downloading all the installers as I type this, so I'll try a few different things and report back.

EDIT - Ok, so... Deleted PT and all associated files and folders, deleted everything AIR, restarted, reinstalled PT 12.6 and the AIR instruments (v12).
Mini Grand worked fine. Restarted computer again. Mini Grand was broken.

I never even got around to installing the AIR effects.

I deleted everything PT and AIR again, and installed PT 12.5.2, and the AIR Instruments (v12).
Mini Grand worked fine. Restarted computer again. Mini Grand was broken.

I deleted everything PT and AIR yet again, and installed PT 11.3.2, and the AIR Instruments (v11.3.1).
Mini Grand worked fine. Restarted computer again. Mini Grand was broken.

Just for giggles, I downloaded the v11.1 version of the AIR stuff and tried that.
The version of Mini Grand in the 11.3.1 bundle is the same as the 12 bundle, oddly enough (1.2.1.18799). The version in the 11.1 bundle is 1.2.0.17939.

Mini Grand didn’t work at all this time, whether I deleted the user pref file or not. Nothing shocking there, as we’re talking pretty old software at this point, and I’m doing all this under Sierra 10.12.1.

At no point during this whole process did I reinstall the AIR effects.

And I made sure to delete ALL pref files each time, including the airmusictech.minigrand file from the user folder.

I’m out of ideas. I guess it’s just some sort of incompatibility with the AVID supplied versions of some of the AIR instruments and Sierra. Serious Bummer. Why isn't it affecting everyone? Who knows...

I’m not sure I even did us all any good with this experiment, but I wanted to at least try.

It’s weird that were not all experiencing this, and that those who are aren’t necessarily experiencing it in the same way.

The best part? My annual subscription is up in 6 days. (yaaaaay… not)

Have we confirmed that AIR's latest version works in all instances?
If so, what's it take for AVID to offer that?

Thanks for trying all this, all signs point to AVID updating the installer.

So, I just spent an hour and a half with AVID support controlling my computer.
He tried everything either of us could think of.
We were able to duplicate deleting the prefs and make mini grand work.
But as soon as we rebooted that was it. Broke again.
So, he is going to run the ticket to the engineers.
Let's see what happens.

I assume an update to the latest existing AiR version will fix it.
