Well we still haven't worked out the possibility that it is, in fact, SL that is making your life harder. I'd recommend going back to 10.5.8 if possible. Upgrading to SL really isn't recommended until it is officially compatible with Pro Tools.

Another question might be, does the command button work for other shortcuts in PT?

Also, does the spacebar work to start and stop playback?

Another common set of recommendations is to try a new admin user account and to delete preferences and databases..

Yeah, space is fine for start/stop playback. Also all other cmd keys seem to work.

Also tried installing 8.0.1 with the same issues, course everything else works.. I'm thinking this can't be a digi problem but I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

That's version 8.0.3, 8.0.1 and 8.0cs3 that have the same cmd + space bar issue.

Found the problem. It was a preference plist, completely not related to Pro Tools. The file is located user\Library\Preferences\com.apple.symbolichotkeys .plist I'm assuming this is related to the Keyboard menu located in System Preferences.

Anyways, figure I'd post this incase someone else has the same problem. Running Pro Tools 8.0cs3 with no problems now.

Thanks for the help all.

Did you delete this .plist file to make it work?
I´m kind of having this problem too since I got my new MacPro
and Snow Leopard and 8.0.3.
There is some notice at Known Issues about SpaceCommmand no working, but I did not get it to work still..
I really liked to have this Command Space record feature since I´m so used to it.

Mac Pro 2.66GHz 8GB 10.6.2 PTLE 8.0.3

PK.

Ya, once that plist was removed it started working again. Sometimes now, it stops working once again and I have to go after the same plist first to get it working it.. really weird

Strange..
There is some notice with Command-Space not working with "japanese" language, I´m using finnish..And still did not get it to work after Spotlight-Dashboard check.

I´ll try trashing .plist and see how it will work.
Hope digi will sort it out next update.
Thanks!
