Audience micing & mixing
I'm regularly recording live spoken word & comedy to DAT & then dumping into PT. for later broadcast. I use a good ol' 58 for the vocal mic & that works just fine but I have been experementing with mic type, placement, compression ,eq. etc. for the audience mic. I'm trying to achieve an intimate sound of the audience without too many room reflections from the P.A.
Any suggestions? |

Re: Audience micing & mixing
There are many ways to skin a cat.
I've never skinned a cat but never mind. Here is one more unusual suggestion. A shot gun Mic on top of each PA stack pointing at the audience... and some supplementaries in other parts of the venue. On Mixdown play with the phase and filters of the two shot guns and sometimes it can be like magic. |
