Default Guitar sounds

Can anyone tell me any secerets to getting a fat warm distorted guitar sound with pro-tools. Currently I have no outboard gear, but it is coming soon. I'm stuck with the plug ins and my guitars sound to brittle. I have just bought a pair of Royer R-122 Ribbon mics and they seem to really help warm it up a bit but not enough for my taste. I want that fat smooth distortion. Any suggestions?

Start with the source. those are great mics for gtrs. The focusrite pres. are ok, but try api 312's, or neve 1272's.
btw, this is the wrong forum for his question.
