Random freezes Pro Tools 12.5.2 - where should I look for a log ?
Hey guys,
I'm on PT 12.5.2 (Vanilla). I'm getting frequent freezes out of nowhere. There are no apparent tasks that lead to this freezing so I'm assuming a certain plug-in or system app might be the culprit. I was silly enough to update my system to Sierra even though 12.5.2 is not officially supported on this OS. This obviously doesn't contribute to a healthy and stable system, even though Pro Tools seems to be running amazingly well with no hiccups or graphic glitches. I'm positive this might be related to a plug-in. My question is, as soon as Pro Tools freezes, what should I look for ? Should I try and find a system log to find out what caused the crash ? Where and how do I do this, exactly ? Console ? Pro Tools log folder.. ? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. |

Hi,
Make note of all plugins active in the session and try deactivating them one by one to figure out which one might be causing the freeze. Quote:
Good luck!!

Re: Random freezes Pro Tools 12.5.2 - where should I look for a log ?
Thanks cwsand,
Thing is, the freezes are very random and do not appear to be related to a specific plugin. It might happen when I'm soloing something, or trimming a clip. but yeah, thanks for the log location, I'll keep an eye on it and post it here. Hopefully someone a bit more IT savvy than me might look at it and see the culprit :) Thanks ! |

Didn’t Sierra introduce a new file system?
If so it would be best to reinstall PT.
