Default Which Parallel Compression plug-in do you prefer?

Hi all,

Which plugs do you like for crushing a parallel bus? My goal is to get a bigger/louder drum sound without clipping.

I've always used McDSP Compressor Bank for parallel processing on my drum bus. Im looking to switch it up.

I have Eventide Omnipressor and Bomb Factory BF3A along with the standard PT plugs. Either of these good options? What else?

Since you said no clipping any of the ones you mention will work. Mcdsp is great imo but personally I like clipping so my go to is soundtoys Devil-Loc

Always been a huge fan of the Smack plugin for that. Lately I've been trying the Sly-Fi Deflector, Boz 11dB compressor & Softube Fet, they all rule in my book.

Even though what I miss about the 11dB is the way I can distort the drums heavily with the real HW(adr compex).

Omnipressor is great for parallel compression. Instant vibe. But I use lots of others also.

Another vote for the Eventide Omnipressor. We used the HW unit until the plugin came about and now we use the plugin 99% of the time as HW unit we own is a hit n miss deal

I know I'm out of the topic but, can I be curious and ask why?

I have the hardware Omnipressor as well and love it. However it is a bit tricky to find that perfect spot. The software version seems more forgiving.

@amagras

I have a hard time to dial it in and the plugin is much faster andmore forgiving. I "think" our HW unit has a power supply issue as it drops out maybe 25-30% of the comp when we pushed it and also have much more noise when pushed compared to the plugin.

I don't wanna sell either if its broken or have issues with it. So it just sits here in a rack hehe.

Also our unit is one of the first 10 in serial numbers and I know other studios who have one and theirs doesn't get as noisy as ours when we push it above "0" but they also have a harder time to dial it in rather than using the plugin. Weird stuff this music gear

Another vote for Devil Loc. Although the McDSP 6030 is cool because you can cycle between all their emulations while maintaining the settings.
