I am also using REASON with REWIRE

The Problem
I have been using this current system for a couple of months now. The system is ONLY used for recording with Pro Tools. In the early stage it seemed quite stable, but as I started asking more of the system, things went awry. I had followed the installation and system set up meticulously.

I am having extremely annoying intermittent MIDI sync faults. I will be working on a session, complete the session. Save the session. Close down Pro Tools and my computer. INTERMITTENTLY ( but generally for the whole day) on restarting the session the MIDI is out of sync. This is generally the drums (Addictive Drums, which I have the latest version of)

The first time this occurred I was getting DAE 7400 error. The suggested solution to this problem had no effect.
I then followed the General Troubleshooting guidelines (bar turning off Bluetooth as I use a wireless mouse). Downloaded the TECH Support Folder and followed the instructions.
This seemed to really make things messy, so I ended up uninstalling Pro Tools and Addictive Drums (not even sure if this plug in is the problem, but was the one suffering the most) and re installing both of them. I Repaired Disc Permissions after doing this and low and behold, it was working again......... for a few days.

I Started a new session which had more MIDI info. Addictive Drums and REASON Rewired. The session was all good. I saved it and closed Pro Tools and shut down my computer.

Before opening the session the next day I did put a new POD X3 into the system. I was getting some sample rate messages until I changed the preferences within the POD, but I HAD NOT OPENED the previous days session yet.

When I did, the drums were out of sync again..... [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]!!!!!!

When this occurs, the TRANSPORT behaves strangely. On pressing PLAY there is a one second pause and the STOP button lights up followed by the PLAY button flashing before the track commences playing. This ONLY happens when I get the sync faults.

This morning when I opened the track it played fine (little [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]!!!) but I am sure I'll get this fault again when I don't need it.

I hope I haven't blabbed on too much. It would be REALLY GREAT to have some help on this because I'm getting near my wits end.

Cheers

Nic

First - have you done all the steps in the General Troubleshooting thread, including turning off wireless/airport/bluetooth, making sure Firewire networking is disabled in the Network control panel and trashing preferences?

Even more importantly, have you updated all your plug-ins to Leopard compatible versions? Having just one incompatible plug-in in your plug-ins folder can cause all kinds of problems.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.

As suggested I have followed ALL the instructions on the Tech Support Utility.
Removed Plugins, Trashed Preferences, Repaired Disc Permissions, turned off Airport, Bluetooth (now using cabled mouse), Firewire.
Uninstalled Pro Tools, re installed Pro Tools 7.4, 7.4.2 update and 7.4.2cs2 update.

Opened a session, it plays for 10 secs then the whole program freezes forcing me to Restart the computer.

Here is my current version list.

I have updated Xpand! Structure and Addictive Drums. Where do I find updates for the other Digidesigns bundled plugins?

Cheers

Unfortunately the current Tech Support Plug-in version generator does not work on Leopard. If you can provide me an email address, or let me know if the one in your profile is OK to use, I can email you the latest beta of the newer version.

On the main Digi site, click on Products, then choose Plug-Ins from the drop-down list.

Actually - hold the presses. I see the problem:

Quote:
Uninstalled Pro Tools, re installed Pro Tools 7.4
You should not install ANY other version of Pro Tools prior to 7.4.2. Doing so will cause problems. Do a clean uninstall of both 7.4.2 and 7.4, then restart and reinstall ONLY 7.4.2.

You can uninstall Pro Tools a couple different ways:

1. Run the installer for the version of Pro Tools you're trying to uninstall - when you get to the Custom Install page, click on Custom Install and select 'Uninstall'. When you continue with the uninstall, it will give you the option for 'Clean' or 'Safe' - choose 'clean'.
2. In your Pro Tools Utilities folder you may have a Pro Tools Uninstaller - double click and follow on-screen instructions. Again, you'll be given the choice of clean or safe uninstalls.
3. On most Pro Tools install CD's or DVD's there will be an Uninstall utility - same steps as in #2.

Hey Digi,
Great!! Thanks for the heads up;-)

Have done the clean uninstall of both 7.4 and 7.4.2 and reinstalled 7.4.2
Should I bother doing the 7.4.2cs2 update?

All seems to be working fine at the moment.

I am doing further system upgrades at the moment.
Could you please suggest the best external drive (1 TB) to use with a late 07 Aluminium iMac 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. I will also be upgrading to a 003 Rack in the not to distant future.

Cheers

Hi,

20 mins into todays session and it's faulting AGAIN!!!!!!!!

After doing the suggested clean uninstall of 7.4 and 7.4.2 and then reinstalling it worked for 20 mins then faulted.

I tested the reinstall with a session from last week. Worked fine.
Opened another session and it did the same fault. Press PLAY and STOP and PLAY both light up, PLAY flashes three times then the track starts. Audio is heard BEFORE the transport line meets anything in the edit window and ALL audio is jumbled and out of time.

This is becoming REALLY ANNOYING!!!!
