All Possible Melodies Now in Public Domain
A musician/lawyer worked out an algorithm that has created every possible 8 note melody. Their hope is to eliminate copyright infringement lawsuits over unintentional similarities between songs that happen from time to time. By making every possible melody essentially public domain, they hope to reduce or eliminate such lawsuits, I guess.
Will be interesting to see how this holds up in court, should it ever come to that.

It's virtually impossible to write a melody that can't already be proven to be in the public domain! Arrangements are still subject to copyright.
