Default IO Setup & Multiple S/PDIF Devices

I want to run S/PDIF out from 2 diff devices into the S/PDIF "In" on my 003. So, I manually re-patch from the 2 devices, depending on what I'm tracking.

But when i do this, PT advises that my "IO settings have changed", and various inputs on my sessions are made Inactive. Is this normal?

To my way of thinking, my IO setup hasn't changed at all - it's just S/PDIF signals from diff sources. For my type of projects, I'd prefer to lock-in a single IO setup, and leave it alone.

Is there a work-around?

<Bump>

Is this a typical scenario when using multiple S/PDIF devices? Anyone....?

Thanks
