Default TRAINING....AZ. or, LA. ???

I want to learn MORE than PT. ( The whole shootin match)

I'm looking at.......... "the consevetory for recording arts & sciences" in AZ.

also "los angeles recording workshop"....in CA. ( they have an oxford!!!!!!)

any REAL opinions? (teachers/ former students)

would the school make a difference in hiring ? ( as apposed to acctual skills )

any OTHER places ?

I've been a pro/post engineer for three years.

I have a good job, running a TDM 5.1.3. rig.

but i want MORE knowlege / skills.

I would be greatfull, for producers / studio owner's opinions, as well.

Contact the studios you want to work at and ask them what they would prefer. They might have another suggestion you haven't thought of.

if you've already got 3 years as a professional. Don't waste your time in school. Spend the Thousands of dollars on one-on-one training with industry experts!

cheers

I could start there in NYC with you

Yes I'm considering that possibility as well.
how does one get started....

I work in post , It's not challenging enough ( music is where i want to be working )

I'm decent at softsynths, good at mixing, I can play 3 instruments & sing ( so i LOVE music )

school seems to be a good thing to do..
If i can walk in there knowing VERY much
about this stuff, my theory .......I'll learn even more!!!!

one on one with a GREAT engineer at a variety of consoles / environments , is really what I'm looking for....

Hey Tom Mac,
I feel kind of the same as you. I have been recording for the last 3 plus years and I am working on album 5. Even though I have alot of experience I fall short in several categories, mainly more expensive equipment, professional atmosphere and different techniques and so forth. I am enrolled into the Conservatory of Recording Arts and found that to be an answer for me. I needed to move up and going there feels like the natural progression for me. So don't let people tell you what is good for you or not because you are right for wanting more and getting it where you think the best quality education and service received is normal. So do what you think is right because more of a quality education is not a bad thing. It also helps to have knowledge going in so you aren't intimidated. There's nothing worse than being in a situation where it feels like you know nothing about the subject or course you are taking.

the schools are also teaching about the business side of things not just how to use protools.

Learning about business is how you can get the edge up, to sucess ( sometimes)

900 hrs to complete the school in AZ

Hard not to consider Berklee if you're into music, production, and engineering (in fact, that's the name of our department...).
