Hi Everyone!!!!

I have been having this problem for over two months. I JUST FIGURED OUT HOW TO WORK AROUND IT!

Hope this works for some of you:

I consolidated the files from media source and created a new AAF into a NEW FOLDER labeled AAF EXPORT (I found that if you do not make a new folder, your project will get very messy and hard to find). This process copies & renames all the clips and works around the AAF corruption. I have found that the assertion error wasn't for the audio or media files- but within the AAF. (Video Editors may be used to working this way when using AVCHD or RED files... Most of the times it is called making "Proxy Files".)

You have to open a new session, import tracks and find the corrupted file....

I have this happen consistently with OMF or AAF files from Logic 9 from some clients of mine.

The solution is to import the audio and immediately commit or consolidate the regions and then delete the old tracks and files (select unused, clear). Commit with delete is quicker and cleaner.

Also, when these sessions won't open, you can still open them in PT10 most times, then do the consolidate and clean, save, reopen in PT12.

Here's my post from last week re ERROR 1104
In my case I get it when I try to import an aaf made with Media Composer 2018.11 or made with Pro Tools Ultimate.

Might help you identify an issue in your case
